Hello, I’m Jo.
I’m a Counsellor / Psychotherapist offering long and short term therapy in North London.
Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore personal issues in a safe, confidential environment. I can offer you this secure, compassionate and non-judgemental space in which to begin this journey.
Maybe you are considering therapy in a time of crisis, wanting to make sense of what is happening in your life, or perhaps you want to explore and improve your relationships? Whatever you choose to bring to the work, my aim is to help you gain more control and mastery over your life.
My approach is integrative and relational:
- Integrative, in that a range of therapeutic techniques and approaches inform my practice (including person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT).
- Relational, in that the work will almost always involve exploring relationship patterns both inside and outside the therapy room, potentially leading to a clearer and more reflective understanding of yourself.
This approach also allows me to work flexibly and means I can adapt the way I work to meet your individual needs.
At the core of working with you I place great importance on working collaboratively and understanding your style. I’m always mindful that it is YOU who is the expert in your life – whether it is working in the here-and-now or examining and addressing past experiences and how they might affect you today.
I have over 20 years’ experience of working in the arena of marketing and media, and have been practising as a counsellor in the NHS since 2013. I have experience / special interest in working with sexual and domestic abuse, anxiety, bereavement, depression, health related issues, identity problems, loss, obsessions, personal development, post-traumatic stress, redundancy, relationships, self esteem, sexual and gender identity.
Please telephone, sms or email me if you would like to ask any questions about how I work or to arrange an initial consultation.
