Counselling offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to explore what troubles you. Working collaboratively, on a regular basis (usually weekly), we would work to make sense of what is causing the difficulties you face which, in turn, may lead to making changes in your life.

Perhaps you are considering therapy in a time of crisis, wanting to make sense of what is happening in your life, maybe you want to explore and improve your relationships? There are a wide variety of reasons why people consider counselling.

My approach – how I work

My approach is integrative and relational:

  • Integrative, in that a range of therapeutic techniques and approaches inform my practice (including person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT).
  • Relational, in that the work will almost always involve exploring relationship patterns both inside and outside the therapy room, potentially leading to a clearer and more reflective understanding of yourself.

This approach also allows me to work flexibly and means I can adapt the way I work to meet your individual needs.

At the core of working with you I place great importance on working collaboratively and understanding your style. I’m always mindful that it is YOU who is the expert in your life – whether it is working in the here-and-now or examining and addressing past experiences and how they might affect you today.

I have experience and special interest in working with clients from BME/BAME backgrounds and also with clients who experience the below:

  • Anxiety
  • Low mood & depression
  • Relationship issues
  • Anger
  • Bereavement / loss
  • Gender & identity issues
  • Stress
  • Abuse
  • Bullying
  • Low self esteem and confidence
